Richard Blaine Another really intriguing track from Mr. Minty, with a signature off center rhythm track and terrific lit based lyrics.

This song takes it's inspiration from Cugel, self styled “the Clever”, the protagonist in two of Jack Vance's “Dying Earth” novels. He a small time rogue, thief, con-man, fence and general all purpose survivor in a world that demands quick wits, fast feet and utterly no conscience. Not a nice person.
People like Cugel have existed in our own world throughout history, still exist in our own time, and very likely will continue to exist for the entire future of humankind. If you have never come across such a person, it is most likely because you have led a sheltered life.

ask me no questions, I’ll tell you no lies
the name of my game is midnight supply
it fell off a truck, just dropped in my lap
there really weren’t much I could do about that

midnight supply, midnight supply
ask me no questions I’ll tell you no lies
no lies midnight supply

I don’t carry much stock ‘cause I like to move fast
those who move slow don’t often last
tell me what item you have in mind
come back next week, see what you can find

I don’t give no credit, I don’t take no cards
won’t honour a lay-by if it ain’t in the yard
when I get hassled I’m gone in a flash
just pick up your bargain and hand me the cash

call me a sinner or call me a saint
I won’t make no refunds, nor take no complaints
ask me no questions I’ll tell you no lies
the name of my game is midnight supply
